Towards the end of the first month

So here we are, almost the end of September and things are going really well. The students have started bonding really well—I can already see life-long relationships building!

Last Thursday the students and some staff members went up to Drift Creek Camp for the Crossing. It was a time of bonding for the students, where they—through tears and smiles—told their stories.

Here is what some of the students had to say regarding the Crossing:

Raychal Taylor: The Crossing was great. We had to share our stories which was hard for me because I get nervous when I have to talk in front of people. But it was really good because I was able to open up and let the group see into my heart. God grew me there! And He really bonded the whole group together in a way that only the Lord can.

Levi Wilke: We spent a week away from everything else. We shared our life stories. For me this was a good time to prepare my mind for the next seven months of Mandate.

Joanna Hildebrand: The Crossing was such a blast! We got to share our life stories with each other and after hearing everybody's, the bond between us was just so much closer. We also had time to just hang out together on a daily basis. We played lots of games like Settlers of Catan and Egyptian Wars. I pretty much dominated everyone that played with me, but of course I did let some games slide, hahaha. The best part for me was the small but important like lessons I felt like God was teaching me when I heard people's life stories.

SATURDAY:

This last Saturday we did a couple of fundraisers, raising a net total of about $850. We started out with selling Krispy Kremes in the morning. We sold out 125 dozen in  less than 3 1/2 hours, which was so encouraging to us all! Thank you all who came and helped out selling the donuts, or washing cars!

In the afternoon we all gathered together in McMinnville and had a very successful carwash! It was a very encouraging day to start the fundraisers rolling!

This week we start classes! Dan Bumstead is going to be teaching on the book of Luke this week.

Thanks for your support of Mandate schools!
